Human Stem Cell Research

Stem cells are the building blocks of living things and found in all plants, animals and people. In humans, the number and types of stem cells change the body ages.      

Scientists across the world use these cells to better understand living things.

Human stem cell research helps us better understand human development and how different drugs affect different people and organs. It also helps create new treatments to combat an illness or injury.

Many therapies today involve cell replacement, which utilizes donor stem cells or an individual’s own stem cells—known as induced pluripotent stem cells.
